The need to transfer large research data sets grow every day. Research models are now big enough to be in the TBs (Terabytes) in size, making them difficult to transfer in a timely manner between research facilities and HPCCs (High Performance Computing Centers)

A large medical research facility in Southern California faced this capacity issue in transferring large blocks of genome research between data centers.
